Skype Over 3G Now Available Through Fring

Good news, only hours after Apple finally lifted the VoIP over 3G ban, Fring flipped the switch and you can now place Skype calls, over 3G, without even updating it.

It actually goes even further since Fring allows you to use any VoIP server you want.

What does it mean? Well, just think of Skype’s $3/month US unlimited plan or, let’s be crazy, their World unlimited plan for $13, right from your iPhone.

Did I say this will also most likely work on your iPad?

  1. this is not working for me. can you guys confirm this is working for you all?

    • Yeah…still saying its over WiFi only. Just downloaded it today

    • Yep, we tried it on an unjailbroken iPhone on AT&T. It’s working for us.

      • Mine is jailbroken, I wonder if that messes with it.

  2. Question? If you’re pay ATT for cell minutes on their network and you use dkype to make a call aren’t you using minutes and paying skype?

    Why pay double?

    • Well, if you’re not going over your plan and not calling overseas it might not be that interesting…
In the opposite situation however, it can make a huge difference

      • Thank you.

  3. Looks like fring is going to be going back on my iPhone. :)
