Steve Jobs met with Apple employees this week in Cupertino to discuss the iPad, answer some questions and, according to Wired, also rant about Apple’s partners/competition:
On Google: We did not enter the search business, Jobs said. They entered the phone business. Make no mistake they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them, he says. Someone else asks something on a different topic, but there’s no getting Jobs off this rant. I want to go back to that other question first and say one more thing, he says. This don’t be evil mantra: “It’s bullshit.” Audience roars.
Evidently on fire, Jobs also gave them his sharp take on Adobe:
They are lazy, they have all this potential to do interesting things but they just refuse to do it. They don’t do anything with the approaches that Apple is taking, like Carbon. Apple does not support Flash because it is so buggy. Whenever a Mac crashes more often than not it’s because of Flash. No one will be using Flash, he says. The world is moving to HTML5.
I’m surprised he would put it so bluntly, but isn’t he just so right?
He’s right. Flash has always sucked. Adobe should be ashamed to take credit for introducing it to the Internet.

HTML 5 really is the future. But, the problem is that we live in the present.

Hover cars are the future because gas cars are so buggy. Until we get hover cars, guess what?! App advice: stop being such a homer and stop being afraid to criticize a product! Apple should either support flash for now or launch their alternative now. “but it’s my screen and I’ll show what I want! Hmph!” Jobs acts like a spoiled 12 year old. And you guys at app advice are attached to his man-like cow udder of bullshit. I’ll take android in all it’s glory over a handcuffed apple SDK. “but you can jailbreak” I shouldn’t have to!!! If you buy a Lexus you don’t bring it to a chop shop.
HTML5 isn’t Apple’s alternative, it’s a new upcoming open standard, that gives native support to webpages to do things that flash can. The iPhone already supports most of HTML5 (could even be all), and the ball is in the court of sites that use flash now. They need to take the step forward to HTML5, eliminating the need for buggy closed third party plugins.
That’s a terrible arguement. Like if early HD TVs could ONLY play HD tv and channels that didn’t offer it were blacked out.
Ok let’s say that html5 is the future but when and what about now should I be stucked with a videoless facebook (among others) until the future comes over 75% of web vedios r flash and since I hot my iPhone more than a year and a half now I rarely check my mail or facebook on my laptop I just use my iPhone and I’m really pissed of the no flash support it works well on windows so it’s apples problem not flash so they should live in the present not wait for the future I belive they r the lazy ones not trying to fix things up to support flash which everybody use, it’s like u buy a new blueray player an they tell u it doesn’t play regular DVDs and u should thraw all yr DVD librarry away coz it’s the future the future should support the past not erase it.
I hate working in Flash. When a client wants it I usualy talk them out of it and tell them the same effect can be acheived with Javascript. They always go for it so I’m happy. I think Flash is only going to be used for games and cartoons in the future. I wouldn’t blame everything on Adobe though.
And Jobs needs to stop bad mouthing Google and just learn from them instead. Two reasons I Jailbroke my iPhone: Google Voice, and multitasking.

HTML5 is indeed where things are going; however, something like Flash will still take years to die off.
So, either everyone sits around and waits for it so they don’t hurt anyone’s feelings, or someone stands up, raises his middle finger, and walks out.
Everyone take a guess as to which approach Jobs is using.
Why does everyone hate on Flash?
It’s true that it’s heavy on system resources and based off old technology, but we must give credit where credit is due.
Flash allows artform into websites, allows the web designer to break from the contstraints of CSS and HTML and create something truly unique.
To say that Flash is buggy is unfair. Like any form of programming language, Flash will do whatever it’s told to do.
If a Flash movie or website causes error, 99% of the time the fault lies with the creator of the Flash file.
Jobs is acting like a baby. Does he realize how many stock, and user generated apps DEPEND on google?? Bottom line: Jobs wants it his way and if you buy his products, bend over and take it.
Hey Steve, how about you work on multi tasking, battery life, flash or a replacement, camera design and making money and leave the two year old antics to Verizon.

Flash is not buggy, its the web/game/application developer who develops buggy code that makes flash so ‘buggy’ and Why is jobs so pissed at google and adobe anyway? Cant take competition? Grow up jobs!

How come nobody realize why Apple and Steve wants to stay away from Flash. It is NOT because it is buggy. It is because if people can play flash content for free on iPhone it will kill the Apple’s cash cow, appstore. Buggy or not millions of Windows users use flash on millions of major websites every day to enhance web experince, present complex training material, movies, games etc.
Flash will kill mediocore crappy apps on appstore. That is the bottom line. Go Adobe. You rock. My iPhone stinks without Flash and missing out on half of the web content in general. Apple was in a coma almost dead before the iPhone. Keep it up Steve, death is comining to iPhone. You’re not the only company that can invent revolutionary products. Google is a prime example.
