Apple is putting a lot of thought into new ways of interacting with iDevices these days. The latest idea, published today by the US Patent & Trademark Office, presents an interesting new concept which would take advantage of your iPhone’s camera.

This new interaction method will allow you to control some functions of your iPhone by swiping the camera lens. This could be used to control your voicemail while holding your iPhone against your ear, surf the web without your thumb, or to control your music.

I don’t know how realistic this is but it’s a very neat idea.

  1. We all know that the quality of the iPhone’s camera us just begging to be improved by greasy fingerprints on the lens. :/

  2. Good idea in theory. But not realistic knowing the limitations of the iPhone camera.

  3. Sounds awesome, it might eat some of the battery, but i bet devs will find ways to take advantage of it :)

Also, might not work in the dark.. xD
