Review: Cell Phone Tracker

February 22, 2010

The Overview

Do you wish you could fool your friends into believing you could track their cell phones with your iPhone? Well Reza Alizadeh has created Cell Phone Tracker, a neat app that can help you fool your friends. Cell Phone Tracker  pinpoints your location fooling all your friends that it actually tracks any cell phone you want.

Features

Cell Phone Tracker looks like it can track down any cell phone by inputting a cell phone number in the top left. What it actually does is find your current location. Your friend, who would be with you at the time, will believe it actually works. You can put in any number, also searching one up from your contacts and initiating the track. You can switch from map view, satellite view, or Hybrid view or a combination of both. The app has cool graphics simulating a tracking device, and can fool any unsuspecting victim.

The Breakdown

The Good Cell Phone Tracker can actually fool people into believing it does exactly what it says it does. You can have fun trying it out with friends and family, seeing who actually falls for the gag. The Bad Unfortunately the only thing the app does is find your current location, which isn't much at all. If the app contained more extra features it would draw in more attention.

The Verdict

There isn't much you can say about the app, since the only thing it does is track your current location. I do believe it can be a good practical joke, and it's an app that people who love pranks can enjoy. This app is kind of  hard to recommend... Maybe if a few extra features are added into future updates the app might be worth the $0.99 price tag. Cell Phone Tracker lacks a lot of depth, so in the meantime I say skip it.
