Street Fighter IV Set To Hit The App Store Next Month

February 15, 2010

According to IGN, you will soon be able to forget about Blades of Fury (or any other arcade fighter for that matter) on your iPhone and iPod touch because Capcom has revealed that they have been working on a port of Street Fighter IV that should be hitting the App Store this March. Street Fighter IV for the iPhone and iPod touch has apparently been in the works for quite a while as Capcom has been fine-tuning the controls since the device lacks physical buttons.  The game will sport on-screen controls, but users will be allowed to configure the layout, transparency, and position of the buttons. Street Fighter IV will also feature some extremely clean and crisp visuals thanks to Capcom's ability to take assets straight from the console version of the game and scale them down to the iPhone's screen size, resulting in very little loss of detail and color. The game will also contain a "large roster" of characters, including fan favorites Ryu and Ken, animations taken from the original game, Dojo Mode for training, Tournament Mode, and local multiplayer via Bluetooth. As stated earlier, Street Fighter IV will be available in the App Store sometime in March at a yet to be revealed price. Judging from what you now know and can see from the screenshots, how do you feel about Street Fighter IV coming to the iPhone and iPod touch?  Is it an instant buy, or are the on-screen controls and crowded screen going to take too much away from the gameplay?
