App Store Downloads on iTunes 642x497 The App Store Now Available From Your Browser

Just two weeks after extending its iTunes preview service to apps, Apple has just made another step in this direction and now allows you to consult pretty much the entire App Store directly from your browser.

It’s not really interesting for now since the interface is, how to say it, text-only, and very unpractical to use. On the other hand this could be another hint of Apple’s rumored plan to move iTunes entirely to the browser and hold your music in the cloud…

Check it out and tell us what you think about it.

  1. iTunes is horrible and I hate it with a passion. it is a resource hog, a humungous download, and has an inconsistent interface. apple should be ashamed of this dog.

but as dreadful as it is, forcing into the browser is not the answer. whatever iTunes problems exists, they will be 5 times worse if done with Ajax or the fabled HTML 5.

  2. I used to hate iTunes, but having a massive music library, a mac, and an iPhone, I had no choice but to start using it. I never thought i would say that, I actually prefer iTunes now. It’s not too resource-hoggy, especially with my rig. I have alot of apps that work with iTunes making it even better (ILoveStars, beaTunes, Dougs Itunes Scripts, etc). It also works with SimplifyMedia really well so I can listen to my friends music remotely. I’m not trying to sell iTunes, it’s not for everyone, but it sure does make my music life alot better.

As for app store on the web, it could be useful to some people. I’ll probably never need to use it though, unless I want to send a non-iTunes user a link to an app.
