I don’t want to get your hopes too high, but the iPad could have a camera emplacement built-in.

The folks over at Mission Repair claim to have received some iPad repair parts and they noticed that not only the frame has a hole in it, but also a camera emplacement. They pulled out a standard Macbook pro camera for comparison, and it would fit just wonderfully. Check the picture above.

This might not mean anything, we have a similar situation with the latest iPod touch which also features an empty camera emplacement. This could also be a scam.

Maybe for Rev. 2?

  1. This “news” seems fishy at best. Other reports of this story suggest this to be a fake.

  2. Why wouldn’t apple put a camera in? They want to change the way we work and play. They I’ve missed the boat on the iPhone for video calling and they will do so until a competitor does with the IPad.

Apple business model is innovation but thir arrogance is going to diminish their market share just like last time.

  3. I agree with everyone about the camera and video calling, but let’s be honest, most data networks in the U.S. really couldn’t handle millions of us on video calls. Hell, my high speed broadband at home barely handles it with my imac or macbook, so reallying on att 3g or wifi to do so, that’d be tough. I like many others also agree though that we’ll see a lot of advancements with this ipad as it develops, maybe even by the time it comes out, who knows. But some things, I’m not in very bad need for, this isn’t a laptop replacement, for me it would work great with my sales travels, but I don’t know if it would replace my laptop, have to mess with it.
