As great of a media player as the iPhone is, there are situations where getting to your favorite music is not always easy. Running the treadmill at the gym or navigating through rush hour traffic while scrolling through your playlist can sometimes be a chore (and not to mention dangerous). With the newly released app DisCover from developer Wuonm, this problem is now a thing of the past.
DisCover is a handy app that allows you to create icons of your favorite album covers which you can then place on your iPhone’s home screen for easy access. This simple shortcut solution is one that is handled very well and similar to another of Wuonm’s app, FaceCall, which allows you to make shortcut photo icons of your favorite contact numbers.
The process is fairly easy. Once you load the app, it automatically searches for all of the music on your device. You simply scroll to your favorite album and select the record you want to make an icon.
Onscreen instructions will prompt you to how to add the icon to your home screen and in a matter of seconds, the album cover and your favorite tunes are now residing on your iPhone for simplified access.
DisCover is a very handy tool. Getting to your favorite music now doesn’t require fumbling through menus and makes for an even better listening experience. Plus it’s cool to see your favorite album artwork as an icon on your iPhone screen.

this is a really neat solution to something thats been bugging me for awhile. the one thing that i think could make this app even better would be if you could have an icon for a specific playlist. great app guys!

I think is a great app for albums
I think this is a wonderful idea! I like the idea of being able to display your albums that your proud to be a fan of. It’s also convenient to have one of your favorite albums one tap away. This is an awesome replacement for the lack of favorites in the built in iPod. Sometime you just want to tap and play instead of search all day. Jk hope I win! love the site!
I’m driving and I ask the 3GS in voice commands to play an artist, … it starts ringing someone… ARGGHHH, almost an accident! I switch it to ipod, and it’s set on podcasts — Arrgghhhh , almost an accident, .. I click on artists, and try to scroll, – arghhhh . I finally find a safe place to pull over, click on the artist, …click on all songs, … click on shuffle, and then try to merge safely with the traffic back onto the road.
What a hassle, JUST to play my music while driving!
THIS app is perfect. I can have my favourite playlists as an ‘app’, launch it, and music plays.

I am curious though, that if I don’t have an album cover, could I load my own icon?, or take a picture instead?

This app looks awesome! Such a brilliant idea. I find myself tryin to quickly search through library in my car,@ the stop light of course, so this would be AWESOME. And, well, safer. One tap instead of searching.

As much as I love being able to create album shortcut/icons, I intend to use this for podcasts, which is what I listen to most when I run and drive. Hope they work the same way — it’s really a pain to have to jump to the next podcast in a list when you’re running!
I would agree Ed-words. At the present, only Music Albums in the library are available to be created into an icon. Hopefully we see an update to include playlists and podcasts as well!
