Hopefully those itchy update fingers haven’t already caused too much damage among those of you still playing The Sims 3 on your iPhone or iPod touch.  Apparently the most recent update contains a nasty bug that deletes your game save effectively destroying all you have worked so hard for, so EA is warning those of you who haven’t already downloaded it NOT to do so until there is a fix.

“Due to an unforeseen technical issue please do not download the latest Sims 3 update for iPhone/iPod touch. We are investigating an issue that is causing saved games to disappear. We apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing. The EA Mobile Sims team is actively working on the problem we will release a new update as soon as possible. As always we appreciate your support and patience.”

The tantalizing update contains new “Gothic” themed sets and a “Prank Pack” that can make your Sim fart on command and perform a hand-buzzer prank.  It also introduced a new import/export feature that will allow you to transfer your Sims between The Sims 3 and the upcoming The Sims 3 World Adventures.

I know, I know, the ability to make your Sim fart on command is almost too difficult to pass up, but you just have to resist the urge to hit that update button.  For those of you who have already updated and lost your game save, we feel for you.
