Sudoku Gets Real On The iPad

March 24, 2010

We've already seen quite a few game developers jump on the iPad's bandwagon with the intent of having their titles available in time for the April 3rd launch, but very few of those have been puzzle games, and none have been sudoku puzzle games, which is somewhat surprising considering the sheer amount of them currently available for the iPhone.  Well iPad sudoku fans, your dreams have come true today in the form of Sudoku Real Edition. Sudoku Real Edition for the iPad isn't about reinventing the game of sudoku, it's about making you feel like you're actually playing the game on a real book.  It features highly detailed graphics and animations to put the iPad's much higher resolution to good use.  All of the major graphical elements in the game are items that were photographed to provide a more realistic feel.  Sounds and animations have also been modeled after a real book.  The developers aimed to immerse you even further by providing small touches to the game, like instead of including a pause screen, Sudoku Real Edition features a bookmark that slides into place. The game contains some of the same features used in current iPhone sudoku games, which should make you feel right at home, such as the ability to pencil in numbers, an option to show if the number you have entered is correct right away, and animations indicating when you have completed a square, row or column (which can be toggled on or off).  The game also has complete stat tracking for all of the 400 puzzles across the four difficulty levels.  The team has also implemented some iPad tailored controls, like the ability to select a number with a single drag of your finger. Sudoku Real Edition will be available in the App Store April 3rd, so all of you early iPad adopters won't have to wait to get your sudoku fix.  And guess what?  The developers have actually provided a price, something that has been extremely rare so far for iPad game announcements.  Sudoku Real Edition will go for $2.99.
