Second Batch Of International iPads Sell Out

May 22, 2010

The iPad is still in high-demand around the world as it looks like the second batch of iPad pre-orders just sold out.

It's the second change of schedule for Apple since it started taking pre-orders in Canada, the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain or Switzerland twelve days ago. You'll notice however that Apple held quite well on this second wave apparently as it's been ten days since the June 7th batch started selling. In comparison, the first batch scheduled for May 28th sold out in just 2 days.

The Apple Store is now simply indicating "June" as the shipping date, which makes us believe that you'll now have to wait for quite a while to get an iPad if you didn't pre-order yet. This situation is also partially affecting the US where most Stores are out of stock and online pre-orders are now delayed by 7-10 days compared to 5-7 days earlier.

My order status (I ordered on day one of Swiss availability) just changed to prepared for shipment, so the first batch should (hopefully) be on schedule.
