Today’s list is entirely made up of games, but that doesn’t make it any less worthy of your attention. The list is unique today in the sense that two of the games have free iPhone or iPad versions of the same game, so every one wins.
Compression ($1.99 -> Free): A match-3 game that’s constantly compressing.
The game requires you to spin, slide, and drop colored blocks via touch controls in order to match three or more like-colored blocks in a vertical or horizontal row. When accomplished, those pieces will be removed from the game board. The goal of the game is to remove all hollow blocks from the game board before you run out of space, which can happen quickly because the board is constantly compressing.
The game features unlimited randomly generated game boards, music and sound effects by Atomicon, and OpenFeint integration.
Compression is available for free for a limited time. You can also pick up the iPad version, Compression HD, for free for a limited time as well.
Tune Runner Fusion ($1.99 -> Free): A twist on the music game genre with a line-drawing mechanic in place of simple taps.
Tune Runner Fusion is the ad-free version of Appy Entertainment’s popular line-drawing music game. The game requires you to draw the shapes that enter the screen from the right side before they run into Groov-EE, the funky dancing boom-box. If you are unable to draw a shape successfully before it hits Groov-EE, you will lose energy and eventually lose the game. Multipliers can be scored by drawing a shape multiple times.
The game features a special re-mix of the hit Angels & Airwaves’ single “Hallucinations” to play, or you can play any song from your device.
Tune Runner Fusion is available for free today only (5/20).
Train Jumper ($.99 -> Free): A running game that has you leaping from one train car to another.
The game requires you to run and jump from one train car to another without falling into the gaps or getting hit by the passing signs. You control your character’s left and right movements via tilt controls, and you are able to jump over the gaps and signs by tapping anywhere on the screen.
The game features simple blue ink on paper graphics, and OpenFeint integration to provide online leaderboards.
Train Jumper is available for free today only (5/20).
iPad only:
Friendsheep HD ($1.99 -> Free): A local multiplayer game for your iPad that will have you frantically herding sheep.
Two to four players compete against each other on the same device in a variety of sheep collecting games. In each round you will be given a different task, such as collecting the most sheep or collecting sheep of s certain kind, before the other players are able to.
The game features simple touch and drag controls, adorable graphics, and a variety of sheep gathering mini-games.
Friendsheep HD is available for free for the next two days. You can also still pick up the iPhone version for free for a limited time.
Just so everyone is aware, most of the apps/games you see in our free lists are discovered via a variety of methods, not just one source. Sometimes developers contact us to inform us their apps have gone free and sometimes we just find them ourselves. We try to provide you with a list of quality apps from stand-up developers, but at times that just is not the case. Please keep this in mind when viewing the lists. Developers reserve the right to do whatever they wish with their apps and their prices. We have no control over it, we just are here to inform.
