If you skimmed over our QuickAdvice review of the first version of Ninjatown: Trees of Doom! for iPhone, you probably noticed our affection for the adorable and addictive title.  The tree climbing world that Venan Entertainment and Shawnanimals constructed is an enjoyable place to be, and it’s about to get much more enjoyable thanks to an iPad version that’s in the works and an update to the iPhone version that will be hitting the App Store hopefully relatively shortly.

Ninjatown: Trees of Doom! for iPad sports the same gameplay as the iPhone version it’s based off of, while making the tree climbing a bit easier thanks to the amount of space available on each side of the screen.  The iPhone version — especially if you have a case on your device that has a large lip — can be a tad difficult to control due to the size of the tree trunks.  With the iPad version, this is no longer a problem.

ninjatowndoodle_screen1Ninjatown: Trees of Doom! for iPad will also feature a new timed mode that will be making its way into the iPhone version as well.  The new mode will start you off with 25 seconds, and every 100 meters you climb, 15 seconds will be added to the timer.  If you fail to scale the trees quickly enough, the game is over.

The iPhone update will also contain a new doodle mode, which will turn the crisp, colorful environments you know and love into a doodle sketch.  Screenshots for the new mode can be seen in the gallery below.

The release dates for both the iPad version of Ninjatown and the update to the iPhone version are still up in the air, but from what we witnessed at E3, they looked extremely polished.  Venan Entertainment is still mulling the idea of making the iPhone version of Ninjatown: Trees of Doom! a universal app.  The problem, however, and the main reason that they are evening questioning the move is the increased size of the iPad version of the game.

If you are an iPhone or iPod touch gamer that has yet to experience Ninajtown: Trees of Doom!, we recommend picking it up as soon as possible.  It is currently on sale for $.99.
