If you were looking to get a Bumper for your iPhone 4 in the next few days, you’re out of luck as Apple has just pulled them from the online store. There’s nothing to worry about as this is in preparation for the special Bumpers gone free promotion starting next week. You’re going to have to wait a bit and getting your hands on one is about to get more difficult.
I’m afraid the free Bumpers won’t be easy to obtain quickly even though other alternative free cases will be made available. Steve might have made it sound like an optional fix, but who’s going to skip such a great offer? Since the Bumpers will be available in limited quantities and other cases most likely won’t be as good, these are going to be hard to find anytime soon. For those of you who already have a Bumper (and don’t want a second), we’re hearing you can already head over to Apple stores to get your refund.

Might finally be time to get an iPhone with this great offer on the table. But is bumper and color availability guaranteed? It would suck to be stuck with something like a clunky otter case or a pink bumper.
How many bumpers can one person get? I already bought one and if I get my money back will I be able to get another one? That would be awesome.

No, if you get a refund then that is all you get… Just a free bumper and money back…I am not sure you can get another bumper with no money back though
Black or a Lime Green would be my first choice, for a White iPhone 4!
-There are really, so many options with the White iPhone, and color bands.
White Only, for the Black iPhone.
-Now with a Black iPhone 4, I would prefer just White. It looks more contemporary, arnd a bit more stylish, than having a red, green, blue, band.
If I had to pick a second color for the Black version, I would still go green! Everyone likes green, right?
I garantee that we will see nice Glow in the Dark Bands come out, by some third parties!
The Plus? You will know immediatly, what type of phone people are using at night!
Then again, with other Cell Phone companies coming out with their versions, they will probably want to copy this concept…
So, I suspect we will be seeing a lot of Phone Condoms, on a lot of other phones as well!
Apples antenna issue, now caused a spark in the Color Phone Condum market, even for phones that work perfect, without it.

How do I get a refund from an online order?
Just call the on-line store customer service.

They were ‘pulled’ immediately after the announcement.
I, for one, will not take Apple’s refund for the bumper I bought at launch and gave to my son. I, like a good percentage of other users, am not experiencing any problems with my iPhone 4. I would much rather Apple use my money to continue making great products for us! Thanks Apple.

I agree, i wont be taking advantage of apple over an issue blown way outta proportion. Im sure with nearly every product you buy theres a flaw. This one is just expected to be perfect.If you don’t like a product, what do you do? YES you take it back. You don’t complain about it. I for one love my iPhone 4 and am very happy about purchasing it.
(Btw – DO NOT buy a Zagg invisibleshield. Customer service is terrible and the price for the shields they sell are overwhelmingly ridiculous given the shipping charges for replacements and the “screw you” attitude of the employees of customer support.)

I think it’s a very poor assumption that the other cases “most likely won’t be as good.” Granted, we don’t know which 3rd party cases will be available in the offer, but there are so many 3rd party cases that are vastly better than the Bumper. I’m actually hoping the 3rd party cases include InCase, Incipio, or Otterbox (and no – their new iPhone 4 cases are not bulky at all).
I have 10 of them alll different colors and I only pay 2:59 for them
These free cases will likely require you to sign a document saying that you will seek no further compensation (suing apple, RMA/hardware fix, etc).
@MaryThomas: Apple makes shedloads of money regardless of whether or not they give away free bands that cost less than $1 to make. Virtually every product of theirs has a HUGE profit margin compared to other electronics on the market. I wouldn’t worry about hurting their profits by taking advantage of a free ‘case’.
Caleo, it’s the principle of the matter. Most people’s iPhone 4′s work just fine; we don’t need Applle’s money. They did the right thing by offering to make people happy with the cases, but we don’t need to take them up on it. Things that aren’t broken don’t need fixes. Mine’s fine.
As an Apple Retail employee I can tell you that we are NOT refunding bumpers in-stores yet. Please don’t come in expecting money back–we won’t be able to help you just yet. Should know more in a few days.
