My favorite bedside iPad alarm clock has been updated. The Lifelike Alarm Clock and Weather HD app is by Lifelike Apps. Built around what looks like an actual everyday alarm clock, the app includes a calendar, analog clock, and integration with iPod music.

This latest update includes some good (but modest) features:

  • A premium weather feed which offers more accurate and more frequent updates
  • Podcasts and audiobooks functionality added to both alarm and playback
  • A pull-down rolling shade that puts your clock into night mode
  • Ability to override the iPad’s auto-lock mode
  • Option to override the auto-location function and enter your location manually

The app’s shade effect is very realistic and perfect for the sleeper that wants a few more minutes with Mr. Sandman! I am still waiting for the ability to change the default look of the app’s clock. Still, the app and update are worth its $3.99 price.
