Fans of the über cool tech toy can pre-order today by heading to Brookstone’s online store with credit card in-hand and purchase it for $299. A $10 flat rate fee for shipping will be tacked on as well since the box is so darn big. The AR.Drone will begin shipping to customers on September 3rd.

The AR.Drone will be available exclusively in Brookstone brick and mortar stores as well through October 31st in order to allow customers to experience it in-person.

“What will you get for $299″. Well…absolutely nothing, because in the UK we are being fleeced for £299, even in the rest of Europe it’s 299 Euros
it looks good but it is way to expensive for some thing that is mostly made of polystyrene. maybe in a year or two it might be an affordable price for us mere mortals.

It’s not about the material of the heli – it’s about the tech moron. have you seen videos of the HUD on the iPhone? it’ll fly itself… besides, you can spend about 5K on a RC heli anyways. this is a great toy.
