Quick Trick: Speed Up Your iOS 4-Running iPhone 3G

July 30, 2010

Here's a quick trick for any iOS 4-running iPhone 3G owners who want to speed up their phone without restoring back to iOS 3.1.3. According to lifehacker, users may notably increase the speed of their old-and-reliable iPhone 3G handsets simply by refining what Spotlight searches for, when you swipe your Homescreen to the left.
Go to Settings- General -Home - Search Results, and shut off everything you don't need (I disabled Music, Podcasts, Video and Audiobooks; leaving Contacts, apps, Notes, Mail and Calendar checked). Made my phone a lot quicker, more like it was with v2 (I'm still running v3.1.2, jailbroken).
I'm currently in the process of attempting to speed up an iPhone 3G. After installing iOS 4 (and then promptly downgrading back to iOS 3.1.3), this fix was next on the list. And, I have to admit - it worked for me, too. So, if you're starting to lose patience with your iOS 4-running iPhone 3G, be sure to give this a try. And, if you're still not pleased with the speed of your handset, you could always revert back to iOS 3.1.3. If you're not sure how, be sure to check out our step-by-step guide! And, don't forget to let us know how this quick trick works for you in the comments box below.
