You Asked For It! AppAdvice App Gets With The Times - Multitasking, Retina & More - Win A Free Copy

August 20, 2010
You have begged and pleaded via email, Twitter, Facebook and even our comments sections at times, asking for a significant update to our AppAdvice app.  Well folks, I am very happy to tell you that today, at this very moment, you can download the latest version of the AppAdvice app, which addresses many of your concerns and requests.  We even snuck in a couple of features that you may not have expected.  As our way of saying thank you for being so patient, we will be giving away 10 copies of the app to you, our beloved readers.  But first, a little bit about this latest version. First and foremost, the AppAdvice app now takes advantage of iOS 4 by allowing you to exit the app without having to wait for it to load again upon reentry.  Now when you click on an app link and get brought to the App Store, it won't be such a pain coming back to the article you were previously reading.  This will be especially useful for those who like to take advantage of our AppLists and AppGuides, as well as Apps Gone Free and AppFresh. iPhone 4 users are in for a treat as well.  The app icon, screenshots and even text are now crisp and clear.  Go ahead, hold your iPhone 4 right up to your nose.  You won't see any pixelation. In addition, we have added the ability to change the text font size from normal to large.  To do so, head into the "Settings" app and track down AppAdvice in the list.  In there you will see the ability to enlarge the text, along with two other new features: Shake to Refresh and High-Res Images.  Shake to Refresh should be self explanatory.  High-Res Images on the other hand allows you to turn off those pretty images in case you are on a slower EDGE connection and don't want to wait for them to load. Besides new features, we have also addressed a couple of issues.  The most annoying being the screenshot display bug where the "Done" button would completely disappear, forcing you to have to leave the app.  We have also dramatically improved our AppNews search, allowing you to hunt down articles much easier. And don't worry, the iPhone version of our AppAdvice app still sports everything you loved about it, including AppNews, AppGuides, AppLists, AppReviews, Appisodes, AppMovers and more. The update is, of course, available for free to all existing users. Now, we know the iPad version isn't up to snuff quite yet, but we promise we are working on it.  The next update to the AppAdvice app will address the iPad portion, specifically, the addition of the missing sections that iPhone users have been able to enjoy. You've made it this far, so now it's time to give away 10 copies of the AppAdvice app!  To have a chance at winning one of five AppAdvice promo codes, simply hit that blue retweet button near the bottom of this page or retweet this post from your favorite Twitter app before 11:59 PM PDT tonight (August 20th). We will then search the Twitterverse for all of the retweets and randomly choose our lucky winners. The winners will be notified via Twitter, so please be sure to follow us so we can send you your promo code via a direct message. Non-Twitter users and those of you who want to increase your odds of winning can leave a comment below before 11:59 PM PDT tonight telling us what your favorite new feature is to have a chance at winning one of the other five promo codes.
