Indie developer Qwiboo has released an iPad-optimized version of their popular line-drawing game, Aqua Globs. Aqua Globs HD makes combining wiggly one-eyed globs even more entertaining, if that’s even possible.
Aqua Globs HD utilizes the same formula as the original iPhone line-drawing game it’s based off of. In the game you are required to draw lines from one like-colored glob to another in order to score a single point and, in turn, create a larger glob. Combining larger like-colored globs scores you another point and removes them from the board. The catch to all of this is that only like-colored and like-sized globs can be combined. If you try to combine different sized globs of the same color, they will simply pass through each other. If you try to combine orange and blue globs, you will lose a life. Lose three lives and the game is over.
But that’s not all there is to it. The game also contains green globs, which are not color biased. Combine a green glob with any other colored or sized glob at any time to gain two points instead of one. You can also unleash a special power-up that clears all of the globs if you are in trouble. You can only use this power-up after the meter at the top of the screen fills up, however.
Aqua Globs HD also features awards and leaderboards provided by OpenFeint, the ability to speed up the gameplay, accurate touch controls, stat tracking, and two levels to choose from. The amount of levels is pretty much the only place the iPhone and iPad versions of the game differ, as the iPad version features quite a few less levels, but hopefully we can expect the other levels to be added via future updates.
Aqua Globs HD is now available in the App Store for $1.99. Expect a review of this iPad-optimized version of Aqua Globs in the near future. We may also have another special treat for you regarding the title, so stay tuned.
