Image Comics Arrives On Apple iDevices

Image Comics has now followed Marvel and DC Comics into the iPad digital world. This morning, the Berkeley, California-based company launched the Image Comics app for iPad and iPhone/iPod touch. The company is committed to providing a forum for independent comic book creators.
Through a partnership between Image and comiXology, the app offers Image creators a direct line to digital distribution. Among the independent content now available digitally are Image's most popular titles, including Savage Dragon, Cew, Battle Pope and Rob Liefeld's Youngblood.
According to Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson:
"With the launch of the Image Comics app, we have an opportunity to provide our creators with the digital support that, for many of them, was unattainable before...comiXology has established a very impressive track record of bringing independent content into the digital world. Today represents a milestone in our growth as a company and enables us to increase the availability of the fantastic titles we publish."Already, there is an impressive number of comic books available within the app. This includes many free titles. I found the app easy to use, and each downloaded comic book looked great on my iPad. Image Comics was founded in 1992 by seven high-profile illustrators as a venue where creators could publish their material without giving up the copyrights to the characters they created, as creator-owned properties. Along with DC, Marvel and Dark Horse, Image Comics is one of the four largest comic book publishers in America.
