Firefox Home Now Includes Support For 15 Languages

September 23, 2010
Firefox Home has been updated and is available in the App Store. The free app, which syncs your Firefox browsing history, bookmarks and open tabs to your iPhone/iPod touch is simple in what it does, but is a must-have app for those that use the Firefox browser on their Mac or PC. In order to utilize the app, you must install the Firefox Sync add-on from within your Firefox browser. Once installed, the add-on will ask you to create an account with both a password and secret phrase. The latter is used to locally encrypt and protect your information. You can then login to the Firefox Home app using the same credentials to access your specific information. As changes are being made through Firefox on your Mac or PC, those changes are automatically synched to the Firefox Home app each time you launch it. The 1.0.2 update, released this week includes support for 15 languages, including Chinese, German, and Spanish. In addition, it includes a URL search bar. Want to visit a website that’s not in your bookmarks or history? Only remember part of the URL? You can now type the site’s URL into the search bar and Firefox Home will take you there. I've used the app since its initial release in July and find it makes me more productive and saves me a lot of time too. Still, I am waiting for an iPad version of the app (or at least one that is universal). Better still, it would be nice to have a native Firefox app available across all Apple's mobile devices. So far, however, they are missing from the App Store. You can download Firefox Home today.
