iOS 4.2 Is Now Available

November 22, 2010
Three days before the United States celebrates Thanksgiving, Apple mobile users around the world have reason to celebrate. The latest version of Apple’s iOS is now available for download. Version 4.2 of the iOS includes many new features for both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. However, it should be said: iPad users will see the most significant changes. The update includes multitasking and folder creation. Plus, users can now interact with Game Center, and take advantage of AirPlay and AirPrint. Additionally, iPhone users will see the introduction of AirPlay and AirPrint too. Note that most of these new features are, however, limited to last generation iDevices. According to Apple in its press release:
“iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Once again, the iPad with iOS 4.2 will define the target that other tablets will aspire to, but very few, if any, will ever be able to hit.”
Although its release has been delayed three times, iOS 4.2 has been available for some time to developers. During that time, bugs have been fixed and the end product is truly amazing. So, don't waste a second, go update your iDevice now in iTunes and see for yourself. As for jailbreakers, a new jailbreak should be available shortly, nevertheless, make sure to back up your SHSH blobs just in case. Also, if you care about being able to unlock your device, stay away from this update for now. To check out a full list of improvements, be sure to check out our article on iOS 4.2′s new features.
