iWork Apps Updated Along With iOS 4.2

November 22, 2010
Along with today’s iOS 4.2 update, Apple will release updates to its three iWork apps for the iPad. Version 1.3 of Keynote, Numbers, and Pages add support for the new iOS update and other features. The most significant feature is that all three apps now support iOS 4.2’s multitasking capabilities. This means as a user goes back and forth between apps, its state is saved and restored when a user switches back. Each app also includes support for wireless printing via AirPrint. Users can preview a page and tell the app how many copies to print. In addition, the update offers improved PDF generation. Earlier versions of all three apps are said to have had font incompatibility issues for Windows PC users who received PDFs. This problem has now been corrected. According to Macworld, the biggest change has to do with Keynote. They state that when an iPad "is connected to an external display for presentations, Keynote will now display the current slide, the next side [sic], or your presenter notes on the iPad’s own display." The new updates for Keynote, Numbers, and Pages should be available soon in the App Store.
