PlayStation “Arriving Soon” For The iPhone

PlayStation “Arriving Soon” For The iPhone

December 16, 2010
According to a posting on their official blog, Sony is getting ready to release a PlayStation app for the iPhone/iPod touch and Android devices. While details are limited at this point, we do know this much: you won’t be able to actually play games within the app. What you will be able to do is:
  • Check out your PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with your friends’ games and online status.
  • Discover all the latest games, news and hardware for your PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2.
  • Read all the announcements on the European PlayStation Blog.
  • Share your favorite products or news with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.
The first version of the PlayStation app will only be available in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands. Other countries are expected to follow later. While this news really doesn't mean a whole lot right now, perhaps it is just the first in a series of steps. Perhaps one day soon, PlayStation games will be available via an app on the iPhone. Time will tell. Sony has long been rumored to be prepping an Android-styled phone which would give users a Playstation app with games. Today's story only adds fuel to the rumor.
