Atomic Web Browser Updated With Download Manager, AirPrint Support, And More

January 16, 2011
In an attempt to prove third party browsers have the ability to offer a wealth of features to customers, the latest version of RichTech's Atomic Web Browser adds a download and file manager, support for AirPrint wireless printing, improved web page archiving, improved tab handling, and more. In what's becoming a more common feature for iOS web browsers, Atomic Web Browsers v5.0.1 includes its own download and file manager. RichTech's implementation of this feature offers moving of downloaded files, downloading any file type, viewing supported file types, sending up to 15MB files through email, opening a file in an external application, transferring a file to your Dropbox, and changing a file name and location. Along with being able to open downloaded files in external iOS applications, you can transfer them to your computer for further manipulation and use; and not just via Dropbox. Files can be transferred using the iTunes File Sharing feature. Connect your iDevice to your computer and wait for iTunes to mount your iDevice, then select it in the source list on the left. Next, look near the top of the iTunes window for the individual iDevice settings panes, click on Apps. The File Sharing section, which lists supported apps and synchronized documents, is located at the very bottom. Just like most desktop web browsers, you can assign an action to be performed when opening (adding) a new tab. The options include opening up your bookmarks list, activating the keyboard for URL entry, and doing nothing further. If you're one of those paranoid about your browsing history being available or just hate being offered a site you'll never visit again, Atomic Web Browser now gives the option to delete a day's worth of history or individual page entries. Do delete entries, tap on the bookmarks and history button in the top-left, enter the history list, then use the Edit button in the top-right or the standard right-to-left swipe. The additional feature improvements of Atomic Web Browsers v5.0.1 include: • Improved save web page to save the file as a webarchive which contains all images and css. - Web pages saved in previous versions will be transferred in an HTML format without images. • The full screen button color can be changed in Settings --> Color Themes • Displaying international characters is turned off by default. Go to Settings and enable Display IDN. • HTTP authentication passwords can now be saved and auto-filled Atomic Web Browser is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 3.0 or later. AirPrint functionality requires an iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, 3G iPod touch, or 4G iPod touch running iOS 4.2 or later, plus an AirPrint compatible printer. The iTunes File Sharing requires an iDevice running iOS 3.2 or later and iTunes 9.2 or later. Grab a copy of Atomic Web Browser in the App Store now for $.99. [gallery link="file" columns="4"]
