Angry Birds Gets Huge Super Bowl Promotion, Plus A Code For Fans

February 2, 2011
Dislike the Packers and can’t stand the Steelers? Decided to spend Super Bowl Sunday in front of your iPad reading a good e-book? Think again. The creators of the popular game Angry Birds have teamed up with the folks behind the upcoming animated film “Rio.” The end result is a 30 second spot, that will air during the Super Bowl. The ad will include a special embedded code that will give players a special level of play. Each person that redeems the code will also be entered into a special “Rio” sweepstakes. The grand prize winner will be flown to the film’s March 22 premiere in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. That is the same day Angry Birds Rio will be released worldwide in the App Store. According to Advertising Age, the spot will be the first Super Bowl ad that requires viewers to pause the commercial and watch frame by frame to capture an embedded code. Football viewers might not want to pause the biggest game of the year. However, someone will. From there, the code will be leaked for everyone to see online. We will keep you updated ...
