Here's Why Jon Bon Jovi Hates Steve Jobs

March 14, 2011
Legendary rock star, Jon Bon Jovi, has been giving Steve Jobs "a bad name." In an interview with The Sunday Times Magazine, the artist - who's been livin' on a prayer since 1984, when Bon Jovi landed its first concert as a supporting act - recently blamed Steve Jobs for "killing" the music industry. It's absolute poppycock if you ask me, but here's what Jon had to say about our friend Steve:
Kids today have missed the whole experience of putting the headphones on, turning it up to 10, holding the jacket, closing their eyes and getting lost in an album; and the beauty of taking your allowance money and making a decision based on the jacket, not knowing what the record sounded like, and looking at a couple of still pictures and imagining it.
Obviously not knowing when exactly to calm down and be quiet, Bon Jovi continued:
God, it was a magical, magical time. I hate to sound like an old man now, but I am, and you mark my words, in a generation from now people are going to say: ‘What happened?’. Steve Jobs is personally responsible for killing the music business.
It's a rather ridiculous accusation. I mean, I'm always "getting lost in an album" while wearing headphones (usually albums by Bruce Springsteen - sorry Jon), and iTunes hasn't changed that. In fact, it makes the whole experience a lot easier - syncing music with your iDevice, previewing tracks, and more. To my way of thinking these things make loving music in the 21st century a great thing. And, I wouldn't have it any other way. As Bob Dylan famously sang: "the times, they are a-changing" - you can't blame Steve Jobs for that.
