Word Lens: Automatically Translate Words Using "Augmented Reality" - Now Available On The iPad 2

March 23, 2011
The revolutionary real time visual translator received an update today letting iPad 2 owners join the club. Word Lens, by Quest Visual, now provides native iPad 2 support, which makes the app universal. Originally released last December, Word Lens uses the power of “augmented reality” to instantly translate text viewed via the iPhone/iPad 2’s camera. Imagine visiting Spain and coming upon a road sign you don’t understand, because you only know English. Simply launch Word Lens, point your camera to the text, and the app will instantly translate the message online. While the app is free, you can’t actually translate words unless you purchase one of the two available $9.99 “language packs,” Spanish-English and English-Spanish. However, you can test out the app’s capabilities without spending a dime. Two demos exist within the app including Reverse Words and Erase Words. Check out this video:

The now universal Word Lens app is available in the App Store.
