Puji's Shootout HD ($2.99) by Playcompass Entertainment is a great iPad game for all ages! Puji the starfish is out to save the day as he navigates the bottom of the ocean in an attempt to save all the little fish that are trapped inside bubbles. This addictive game will have you playing for hours!
The screen is divided into two areas, one for shooting and one for the joystick. Slide your left thumb over the joystick area to move Puji around. Tap the right area of the screen with your other thumb to shoot and pop the bubbles. The larger bubbles divide into smaller bubbles, and those need to be popped as well. Sometimes, you have to shoot through other objects in order to access the fish. This may even require hitching a lift from a friendly oyster that passes by. In the end, the object of Puji’s Shootout is to save all the fish from the bubbles on that particular level. Remember to pop the bubbles, because If Puji runs into any of them by accident, the game is over.
Puji’s Shootout advances through several levels, like many other games on the app market such Angry Birds or Woozzle. You are able to start on the last level where you left off as soon as you reopen the app. The joystick is a little difficult to get used to, but once you do, Puji will be moving around with great ease. Currently, Puji’s Shootout only works on the iPad. I hope the developer comes out with an iPhone version. I am guessing it may be a little easier to navigate and play because the iPhone is easier to hold.
The graphics are colorful, friendly and appropriate for kids. There are over 100 different levels to play so the challenge is great for adults too. The upbeat Caribbean-sounding music keeps the player engaged, and fits the theme of the game. Puji’s Shootout is supported in Game Center, so you can compare your scores with your friends. This is a great game the whole family will enjoy! Save the fish and watch out for bubbles because they mean trouble!
