To celebrate Earth Day, we'll be providing our readers with a chance to own an app that gives a stunning view of the planet. Living Earth HD is a universal world clock and weather app that also provides you with a full 3D simulation of the Earth slowly turning to show off its beauty.
The 3D simulation of Earth even includes real-time satellite cloud data, so you can view local or global cloud patterns, plus seasonal changes. The Earth can be set in motion by swiping it, and you can pinch to zoom for a closer look or un-pinch to zoom out. To get back to your current location and the default zoom level, just double tap.
Tap on the city name to bring up all of your favorite locations for quick access, and tap on the current temperature to view additional weather details and the immediate upcoming forecast. Set and manage alarms by tapping on the alarm clock image in the bottom-left set of icons when using an iPad, whereas alarms can be set through the settings area on an iPhone or iPod touch. Tapping the camera image in the bottom-left set of icons on the iPad, or a tap and hold when on an iiPhone or iPod touch, will initiate a screen capture with sharing options.
