Crescent Moon Announces Release Date For Gears

April 25, 2011
Crescent Moon Games, who have created iDevice hits such as Aralon: Sword and Shadow HD and Rimelands: Hammer of Thor, have been busy at work with Gears, a Steampunk ball-rolling game that is scheduled to come out April 28 on the App Store. Gears has been a bit of an unusual development for Crescent Moon, because the studio specializes in role playing games and usually games set in medieval-fantasy settings. Gears looks quite fun, however, and a great breath of fresh air on the App Store. With titles like Sega's Super Monkey Ball Series, and The two Dark Nebula games, this is a great genre on the App Store that could use more such hits. The gameplay in these types of ball-rolling games works well on the iDevices because it is usually tilt-based -- or with the use of the Accelerometer and Gyroscope. You have a ball you want to roll by tilting your device in angles. You also try maneuvering the ball around obstacles and find the exit or end of the level to move on in the game. These types of games may seem repetitive but they are usually quite challenging, interactive and addicting (at least we think so). In addition to tilt controls, Gears will allow you to control the ball via swipes as well. One of the things that makes Gears stand out, just by looking at its screenshots, is the amazing art style and presentation that the game will have. Here is some info from Crescent Moon's website about what to expect in the game:
