Old MacDonald – by Duck Duck Moose ($1.99) by Duck Duck Moose turns a classic song into a fully interactive world for kids to explore. Toddlers will find this an entertaining and educational way to learn their animal names and sounds.
My kids have enjoyed this app for quite some time. They love to tap the animals and see them run and squeal. They like to see Old MacDonald hop up and down. One of their favorites is the painting pig. There are twelve pages to explore.
By default, a lovely strings version of Old MacDonald plays as your child explores. You can change that version to a vocal version for more fun. You have the option to hear the song in English, Spanish, French, German or Italian. There is also the fun choice to record your own voice singing the song. If it is one thing kids love, it is recording their own voices.
This version of Old MacDonald has a laid back educational quality. Toddlers can see and hear animal names and animal sounds and hear the song sung in multiple languages. It’s ideal for parents to interact with their children during play. Older children will enjoy it, too, but in my experience I have found that my preschooler does not find it quite as enjoyable as my toddler does.
Old MacDonald is available for iPhone and there is an HD version for iPad. The graphics are wonderfully polished in both versions, but they really shine in the HD version.
