Priorities ($2.99) by Hand Carved Code, LLC is a new productivity app that creates detailed to-do lists. The app goes beyond a simple list, allowing users to import/export pages, create multi-level lists, set reminders, and add priorities.

Visually, Priorities is a very appealing app. Each pages is given a unique color, used to easily distinguish them. Each page can contain an unlimited number of to-do items, and multi-level lists. As each to-do item is completed, users can check them off with just a tap. Checking off an item causes it to fade, so it is easy to see what has already been completed.

There are several distinct features in this app that I would like to highlight. First is the priority feature. When an item’s due date is near it automatically becomes starred and appears in the “My Priorities” tab. The priorities tab displays the number of priority to-dos with a notification icon on the bottom toolbar in the app, and on the app icon itself. The app also comes with several sync features. They allow to-do lists to be backed up on the app’s server. Users can create a list on one iPhone (with an account) and then download the list on another at a later time. Finally the app has an optional security feature that requires a 4-digit security code to access the app. Perfect for hiding that Christmas shopping list.

I like the multi-level lists in Priorities. They allow users to categorize their to-dos in a more orderly fashion. The sub-to-dos in these lists can also be hidden, to provide quicker scrolling through items, quite convenient. I also like the ability to create additional pages. This lets users create special lists for specific events, like grocery shopping, without cluttering the general to-do list. Although the sync features are cool, I don’t see the practical value in backing up to-do lists.

Overall, Priorities is a nice app to help organize your life. Several extra features add customization beyond that of a normal productivity app. The visual appeal of the app also adds to the overall user experience.
