TweetyPop For iPad: See The Twitterverse In A New Dimension

April 28, 2011
TapFactory wants to bring the world of Twitter into a new dimension, not only one of space but of time. Thanks to TapFactory's new app, TweetyPop, iPad users will now be able to look at the Twitterverse from a whole new perspective. So, what's the big deal about TweetyPop compared to so many other Twitter clients? Even though TweetyPop can display a user's Twitter timeline in the traditional chronological list view, the real benefit is the 3-D view option. This view offers a three-dimensional environment where your tweets are displayed in the perspective of depth in association to how long ago they were posted. To understand the advantages, I'll run through the controls and user interface elements. The 3-D Twitterverse fills up with tweet bubbles in random locations throughout the screen, where the oldest tweets are first and largest. You may be wondering; why are the oldest tweets first? It's because the system works on the concept of elimination. You'll read the oldest tweet first, then fling it out of the screen to mark it as read. Next, you'll read another old tweet and, once again, fling it out of view. Eventually, you'll work through all of your unread tweets with no clutter left. Why is this so revolutionary compared to the list view? Despite some clients loading your timeline at the last tweet you read, it still can get very confusing what you have and haven't read, until you read it twice or three times over. Truthfully, I have a big problem with that. Fully eliminating a tweet, like deleting emails or text messages once you've read them, provides a guarantee you won't be struggling to find your virtual tweetmark -- so to speak. In those cases where you want to jump to the most recent tweets, use the time adjustment slider. Hidden to reduce clutter, just tap anywhere along the right side of the screen to display it. At those moments where you just don't care what remain, mark all tweets as read by tapping on the refresh button at the very bottom-center of the screen. The forward and backward arrows on each side of the bottom of the screen allow you to jump in increments of time. There is just one more thing: slideshow. Slideshow is an automatic time advancement feature, allowing you to read each group of tweets in a set amount of time before moving onto the next set. Basically, an automatic tapping feature for the forward arrow, adjustable from 10 to 60 seconds. I do want to mention that TweetyPop includes all of the standard Twitter features like mentions, trends, direct messages, lists, favorites, and searching in both the 3-D and List views. In addition, TweetyPop does offer Instapaper integration for sharing and archiving favorite information with ease. TapFactory is so excited for about their new iPad app that they're giving away an iPad 2 with ClamCase just for sharing the news with their friends. To enter the TweetBlast sweepstakes: follow @TapFactory and tweet or retweet the following between April 28th and May 12th:

Even if you aren't fortunate enough to win the iPad 2 in the end, daily winners will be chosen to receive a limited edition TweetyPop t-shirt. I found the overall experience quite unique and satisfying thus far, however, my first request would be for iPad 2 camera support. TweetyPop is compatible with iPad running iOS 3.2 or later, and is available in the App Store now for $1.99.
