Air Video Gets Updated To 2.4.7

May 6, 2011
The very popular app, Air Video, has been updated. The universal application has been updated to version 2.4.7 and supports streaming from computers running on either Mac OS X or Windows operating systems. Among the benefits of video streaming are saving memory space and allowing you to store the videos on another device. This way, as long as you are connected to 3G or Wi-Fi the app streams the content wirelessly as you watch the video. The other benefit is the on the fly file conversion that allows you to watch videos stored in various file formats that aren't supported on iDevices natively. Normally, if you wanted to watch videos that are stored as Divx or AVI files, you would have to convert them to the MPEG-4 format first. A lot of other apps do not support 3G or other non Wi-Fi online connections, and offer slower conversions. Air Video is a great app, and it's even better with this latest update. Here is a list of changes for the 2.4.7 release (from the app description):
  • Improved TV Out Support (requires iPad or iPhone 4)
  • Playback over Air Play in background (note that Air Play requires iOS 4.3 update and the latest Air Video Server BETA version, which is not yet pushed through automatic updates)
  • Fixed bug with video zoom for certain aspect ratios
Air Video is a universal app and available on the App Store for $2.99.
