Next iPad In 3D?

May 5, 2011
Forget the iPhone 5. The big news eventually coming out of Cupertino, California could be the arrival of a third-generation iPad in 3D, according to news first reported by RCR Wireless. Can you say game-changer? Hollywood insiders and folks at Apple manufacturer, Foxconn, are already said to be gearing up for a iPad 3(D?) release, which would come sometime next year. Accordingly, one insider stated:
The big film studios were currently running around like blue arsed flies trying to gear up to release plenty of 3D content in time for Apple’s next launch.
What isn’t known is whether the tablet would require 3D glasses to work, and if all iPad 3s would be in 3D or just select models. We’re thinking the answer to the first question would be no. After all, if Apple really wants to wow the masses, they wouldn't want customers walking around wearing ugly paper glasses, while holding their iPad 3. On the second question, who knows? While 3D has obviously come to the multiplexes and is becoming more popular in the living room, would it sell as the tablet standard?  Perhaps. Two things are true, however. First, if anyone could product a successful 3D tablet it would be Apple. Second, releasing a 3D iPad model with the moniker iPad 3D would be a brilliant marketing move. After all, the iPad 4 in 3D doesn't sound as nice. It will be interesting to see if the RCR Wireless rumor is just that, or something to really expect in 2012. What do you think?
