Post-Apocalyptic "Ollie Punk" Is The Future Of Skateboarding

May 27, 2011
Ollie Punk, developed by SPYE Studio, LLC., is another iOS entry in the crowded "Running Man" gaming space. Fortunately, with its slick graphics and fun soundtrack, the game sets itself apart as a stylish diversion from the expected fare:
In a dystopian police state where skaters are jailed, one lone punk ollies his way to freedom. Use multitouch to make your skater leap over a seemingly endless stream of oncoming police vehicles at increasingly insane speeds.
The premise is simple as ever, and -- while the game is a universal binary with unlockable themes -- there are some current detractors from the overall value proposition. As it stands right now, the game's visuals are a little too static; and the play is a bit too easy: All you do is jump over car after car after bus after car. With a little more variety -- and some dynamic rails to stomp and grind -- the atmospheric adventure would be quite a lot better. Of course, for a first release, the promise of updates is a strong sales motivator. Buying Ollie Punk for a buck now means the developers can afford to add your suggestions later.
