ShootingDemon ($0.99) by TeamDB is a cute tap-to-shoot game with anime-like characters and graphics. It wasn't as easy to just pick up and play as I would have hoped, but I still kept playing to see what it was all about.

The story begins with you as an angel named Formil who has come to Earth to save it from the demon attackers. You have a boss named Bee (cute little blue bear with wings) who you must avoid shooting at because, well, he's your boss. However, if you have turned into a super angel, then you want to shoot him as he's worth more points than any other demon. Yes, it's confusing, but it is what it is.

There are three modes in which you can play: time attack, unlimited attack, and story mode. Time attack and unlimited attack are just what they say they are, but story mode is a bit more complex.

Each game you play in story mode comes with new directions from Bee that are specific to that level. I liked this aspect of the game a lot, because it seemed more multi-dimensional.

You'll mostly be kicking demon butt with your lightning-shooting angel gun. If things get too hectic, or you find yourself being attacked by too many demons, you can whip out your sword and slash to your heart's content. As you play and earn points, you can upgrade your gun and sword to give you a better advantage.

It was pretty hard for me to pick up and get the hang of the game. Even after I looked over the directions, it didn't make much sense to me at first. However, the story is unique which gets extra brownie points from me.

The graphics and attacks are enough to keep you interested, but because I found it difficult to learn the ropes at the start, it kind of turned me off. In the end, once you get the hang of it it becomes a more fun, so don't be discouraged. It's in the App Store for one dollar, but instead, why don't you try your chance at our giveaway?

We have four copies of ShootingDemons to give away to AppAdvice readers! For a chance to win a copy, simply leave a comment on this post (make sure to leave a valid email address so we can contact the winners) by Friday, June 24 at 5 p.m. PDT.

Good luck!
