Google Search On An iPad: Bigger Is Better?

Google Search On An iPad: Bigger Is Better?

July 29, 2011
Google has announced new search functionalities for those accessing its website on a tablet. The new features, which are beginning to come online across the globe, offer a more simplified search experience, according to the Google Mobile Blog. Bigger is the best word to describe what Google has done to its search layout for tablets. As such, it has increased the size of everything on the search page including its text, buttons, and other “touch targets.” In addition, the search button is now located below the search box, providing a user with quicker access to specific types of results such as Images, Video, and the like. Finally, for image results, Google Search now includes enlarged image previews and continuous scroll.

Google contends these changes were made to make a user’s overall search experience quicker. Indeed, search does appear much faster. But, to be honest, I always thought Google Search was quite fast to begin with. Visit http://google.com on your iPad and check out the new features. What do you think? Is it quicker?
