Earlier today, the jailbreak mastermind @comex released JailbreakMe 3.0 – an online, Web based jailbreak solution that even supports the second generation iPad. Now, we’re hearing that @comex has also released PDF Patcher 2 in Cydia: A jailbreak package that fixes the PDF exploit JailbreakMe takes advantage of.

If you’re not familiar with JailbreakMe (and don’t want to get familiar with the website), the jailbreak solution provides a very easy means of jailbreaking an iOS device. All you do is navigate over to the site and follow the simple instructions there.

The thing is, JailbreakMe is possible thanks to a PDF exploit @comex utilizes: Obviously, it would be problematic if this exploit (which is now known) was used by the wrong kind of person – in short, a lot of damage could be done to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Fortunately, @comex has released PDF Patcher 2, which resolves this issue. Once installed, nobody will be able to gain root-level access to your iOS device via this method, meaning you can rest assured there’s no danger in @comex’ release of the exploit. For non-jailbroken iPhone users, Apple will likely release an update to the iOS in the near future, which does the same job (after all, this happened last year).

We’ll keep you posted.
