App Cooker – Design, Mockup & Prototype Apps Interfaces ($19.99) by Hot Apps Factory helps create a solid start on designing and marketing apps for the App Store. Note: This is not an app for actually coding and creating a finalized app, rather this is the “pre-production” side of app creation.
This one app has many tools built into it, including: a mock up designer, icon editor, idea planner, App Store info, and pricing tool.
The mockup designer is perhaps the most useful of all the tools because you can plan the screens of your proposed app from home screen to help screen. Link the screens together and then test a rough draft of the app.
The idea planner is a handy widget that helps you create a definition statement to sum up the app and what category it would belong to. You’re also provided with some general guidelines of what each category typically entails.
Everything about this app is tailored toward delivering a final product to the App Store. The icon editor helps you create an icon based on the sizing requirements, the store info tool provides boxes with the same number of characters the App Store will accept, and the pricing tool automatically accounts for Apple’s 30 percent cut.
Whether you plan to create an app for the iPhone or iPad, display in portrait or landscape (or both), sell the app or give it away for free, App Cooker will work for you.
The introduction gives a warning that the app will eventually become $50. In my opinion, $20 is a perfect price point, so if you’re interested, I would act now. It would certainly be a good investment for an app developer.
