Enjoy New Quests And Fun Mini Games In MapleStory Cygnus Knights Edition
MapleStory Cygnus Knights Edition ($4.99) by NEXON MOBILE is the latest Maple Story game for the iPhone. It's a nicely done RPG experience with new environments, quests, and characters.
To begin, you have your choice of two characters: a flame wizard (female) or a soul master (male). The flame wizard is obviously like a sorceress-type whereas the soul master is a melee class. I picked the female wizard (surprise, surprise).
The controls are pretty simple: a directional pad on the left, jump and attack button on the right. You can also rearrange the controls to a placement that bests suits your style of play. This is always a plus.
It was a slow start for me as the broken English and broken-up text was a bit difficult to understand. Initially, I couldn't quite get the hang of which control does what and when.
In case you get stuck, pressing "down" will allow you to use the teleports to the different areas for quests. I ran around for quite a while trying to figure out how to leave the starting zone. Though maybe that's because I'm just a Maple Story noob.
Unfortunately, I did experience multiple crashes — usually upon starting the game up — which severely took away from my gameplay experience as a whole. However, despite the crashes I did enjoy this game.
There is so much to do in this game it will definitely keep you busy. The storyline, the quests, the new areas to explore — all of this will surely warm the heart of any console RPG gamer (especially those of you who love Maple Story games). Not only do you have the story and quest lines to do, there are Game Center achievements and many mini games to play. Did I mention the mounts are awesome?
Overall, this is a very nice side-scroller with beautiful graphics and a lot to experience. If you are a Maple Story fan you will surely want to snag it for your collection. There is definitely a lot of content for your buck, but I just can't give it more than 4 out of 5 stars due to the crashes I experienced. For a whopping $4.99, unless you're a diehard fan, I'd wait for a sale or at least wait until the crashing is fixed.
