Put Your Drawing Skills To The Test In Scribble Show

Scribble Show ($0.99) by Phenom Studios is an endless drawing game in which you use your finger to create patterns on your screen.

Megan's big night at the Scribble Show has finally come, and it's up to you to make sure that her first performance is as great as possible. Megan stands in front of a podium as cards fall from the top of the screen. Your job is to accurately draw what you see on these cards before they reach the stage floor.

The image on each card contains a black dot where you start your drawing, and you must complete the picture shown in one stroke without removing your finger from the iPhone screen. Every time you start a new game, you begin on level one, where the patterns are relatively simple and slow. As the game progresses, new types of cards are introduced, along with complex patterns that curve and intersect.

Thankfully, Megan has a few useful power-ups for you to use. Occasionally, a folder will fall from the top of the screen. Completing the drawing displayed on the folder will reward you with one of four special moves, depending on the color of the folder. These power-ups allow you to destroy, slow down, or freeze the scribble cards on the screen.

There are two meters on the top right hand corner of your iPhone. One of them displays your progress and bumps you up a level after it's completely filled. The other gradually increases as you allow cards to fall onto the stage. If this one gets filled up, then Megan's show is over.

Scribble Show currently has a normal game mode and a practice area where you can work on mastering any of the 37 scribble cards. The scribbles that fall are often held in containers that make the game harder. A card can be heavier, protected by a force field or remote, or contain another card directly behind it. Your power-ups are displayed on the left side of the screen and can be used by quickly swiping up, down, left, and right.

The game includes Game Center leaderboards and optimization for the Retina Display. Gameplay is powered by a unique gesture recognizing system. Scribble Show is only compatible with third generation and higher iOS devices.

The simplicity and creativity of Scribble Show are what make it fun to play. Your only objective is to replicate the patterns on your screen. As the show goes on, the cards fall faster, requiring you to pick up the pace while still maintaining accuracy. If a certain drawing gets you every time, you can tap on the practice button in the menu and work on that one card.

Although it's a good game, Scribble Show is in need of more content and features. The first five or six levels are incredibly easy to complete, and checkpoints should be added so that a player doesn't need to go through these every time. This would allow you to focus on the more exciting and fast-paced section of the game.

A new play mode would be greatly appreciated as well and would add more variety. As well as the current gesture detection system works, there are discrepancies and times where drawing the exact shape shown won't register as a correct move.

Scribble Show is a unique pick up and play title with polished graphics that does well in a game category that the app store doesn't have much of. For $0.99, I recommend trying it out, especially if you're a fan of drawing on your iPhone and the fast-paced madness that comes with many endless games.
