Word A Day Visuals and Audios by VocabAhead ($1.99) by Lafazi, Inc helps you build your vocabulary in a fun, easy, and sometimes pretty humorous way.

Is the Internet dumbing you down? Do you find yourself having trouble adding vowels to consonants so that they actually form words? Do you wake up wishing you had something more to do than eat leftover pizza and drink bad coffee? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Word A Day may be for you!

This app is designed to literally give you one word a day to learn. With humorous cartoon illustrations of the word's meaning, along with a full definition and examples, Word A Day tries to make expanding your vocabulary fun and versatile with text, pictures, and even sounds.

What makes this app incredibly useful is the audio. Not only will it pronounce the word for you, but it will even read the examples and other information about the word of the day to you.

Don't speak English? No problem! The app will translate into one of 50 languages for you.

Although this is Word A Day, it does give you some leeway: you can skip ahead up to three days in advance if you feel so bold. And as you learn each word, and build your vocabulary, feel free to favorite those you need to work on or those you just want to use more often. Especially those special words like "flibbertigibbet." You'll want to save those gems.

Don't forget to check the app every day to get your learning on! You can choose to toggle reminders on or off within the app settings. So, just in case you don't want to be bothered, you don't have to be. But for those of us that like the reminders, it's there if we need it.

I really like the many options and useful tools with this app, and it works very well, but it's still $1.99. It seems to me that there are other apps in the App Store that are cleaner and cheaper and do the same thing.

For example, I really enjoy Vocabology and it is free. If you would thoroughly enjoy having the more in depth audio examples, descriptions, and pictures then maybe this app is worth the two dollars. For me, however, it doesn't give me enough to justify the price. But to someone learning English, this may be the perfect tool.
