Skrappy ($3.99) by Riada International Pty. Ltd. is a popular digital scrapbooking app that lets you add clip art from the web and music from your library. Skrappy was recently updated to allow some minor user adjustments, and to add printing capabilities. To celebrate the update, Skrappy is now on sale for only $0.99 (regularly $3.99).

The app is simple, but has lots of features to make it better than most other digital scrapbooking apps. There are a limited number of themes, but you can change the background, clip art and photo placement, and borders of any page. There are not that many clip art images, but you can visit pre-selected clip art websites from within the app and download any number of images. You can add music or voice memos to any page, or any picture.

You start your project with a comprehensive tutorial of all the things that Skrappy offers, including a how-to guide of the new features. After you get a run through of the features, pick a theme and start creating. You can add or delete any number of photos and clip art images on each page. You can change the background, add text, include music, add a voice memo and even upload a movie. If you want more than one song to auto play on a page, you can set-up a specific order.

To add clip art from the web, tap the (+), then tap the scissors icon. From here, you can either select clip art that is already available or tap the “from web” button to access the Internet. You can either use the Google image search feature, or visit one of the listed clip art sites. When you find an image you like, just tap and hold.

I’ve had this app since it was first released in May of this year. I can say, without a doubt, that the developers have made some important improvements to help flush out glitches and make image adjustments easier. In addition to adding a print feature, Skrappy now has a page layering option, image locking, improved gesture handling, clip art cropping and much, much more.

Overall, this app was already worth the price when it first hit the App Store, but now, with the stability improvements, this is the scrapbooking app to beat them all. Even if you don’t usually waste your time with such silly eccentricities, you will be amazed at how easy and fun it is to create a vacation photo slideshow that won’t bore the kids to death. Pick it up while it is on sale, but even if you miss the sale, it is worth $3.99.
