Spotify USA Now Accepting Invitation Requests

Spotify USA Now Accepting Invitation Requests

July 6, 2011
Eager Americans who want to begin using the European-based Spotify music service are now in luck. The Swedish-based company is now accepting invitation requests for users to join the service stateside. According to the Spotify website, U.S. visitors may now request an invite for a service that is expected to launch here within a few weeks. When it does, unlimited streaming music will be available via the Internet and a Spotify app for iDevices. Late last month, it was reported Spotify USA would arrive for $10 per month and offer unlimited music streaming from each of the big four music labels. At the time, it looked like an ad-sponsored free version of the service, which is popular in Europe, would not arrive in the U.S. However, according to Spotify’s own website, that isn’t correct. They state:
“Spotify is coming to the U.S. The award-winning music service that’s taken Europe by storm will soon be landing on US shores. Millions of tracks ready to play instantly, on your computer and your phone. Any track, any time, anywhere. And it’s free!”
Available in Finland, France, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the UK, Spotify is Europe’s only streaming music service of its kind. However, the same cannot be said in the U.S. where various music-streaming services already exist such as Rhapsody, Rdio, and MOG. We’ll let you know when we hear more about the Spotify USA launch. In the meantime, visit the Spotify website to request your invitation. Are you excited about the arrival of Spotify USA? Let us know by using the comments below.
