bespooked ($0.99) by PIXEL DRUIDS STUDIOS PRIVATE LIMITED is a match-three game that will get you geared up for Halloween with its spooky fun theme. This game is casual enough that you can play while watching your favorite scary movie, but is challenging enough that you may lose your head if you don’t watch out.
As match-three games go, bespooked fits the bill. You must match at least three objects in a row in order to make them disappear from the screen. You can switch one object for another if it is next to it. You gain extra points if you match more than three. In order to complete a level, you must match 100 objects, but as time ticks by, you lose points if you don’t make a match. You’ll have to create more matches than you lose in order to make it to 100. As you progress through the levels, the speed at which you lose your matching points also increases, making it more difficult to complete a level.
There are a few glitches that need to be worked out by the developer. Some of the objects will line up too low in their column and even overlap an object below. Additionally, the game will sometimes freeze for a second when you are switching objects. I had a few experiences when the app did not open properly. The game is still fun and the glitches do not affect the overall experience too much. It is possible that the issue isn’t even widespread, but just happens in very specific situations. In any case, I’m sure the developers are working on a fix.
Overall, bespooked is a fun way to get you in the mood for scary movies, black and orange candy, and the overall fun of Halloween. There are a few glitches, but they don’t completely destroy your ability to enjoy the game. If you are willing to put up with a few minor UI issues, you can pick it up for $0.99 in the App Store.
