Share Your Location In Real Time With Onmaway
Onmaway - Share Your Location without Texting While Driving ($1.99) by Ka Pow Interactive, LLC is a location sharing app that uses the iPhone’s GPS feature to let others track your trip. Send a link to friends and family so they can watch your progress in real time.
To let others know about your trip, simply select either “Short Trip” or “Epic Journey.” If you are headed to a friend’s house for a good old-fashioned game of Dungeons & Dragons, you can send a message, with a link to your location, to everyone in your group with either a text or an email. When sending the message, you can customize what they will read. For example, you can let the group know that you’ll pick up soda and licorice ropes on your way there. The receivers of your message will get a link to a map that updates about every 30 seconds. This web link can be viewed from any browser. If the game master is wondering how soon you will be arriving, he can just check the map to see how close you are.
If you are planning a road trip, you can set the app to update friends and family every four to 24 hours. You can also set up the app to post a message and a link through Facebook or Twitter. If your band is on tour, you can let your fans know where you are every mile of the trip. Hardcore fans will be able to hit the road and follow you from town to town.
I found that this app worked flawlessly for every trip I took. I have not used the Epic Journey feature yet, but I am confident that it will keep my friends and family abreast of my whereabouts when I do. There are other location-tracking services out there, but Onmaway seems to be the best one for the price. It works great and is easy to use. Pick it up in the App Store for only $1.99.
