Break Some Eggs In The Challenging Matching Puzzler, Do Do Egg!
Do Do EGG! ($0.99) by PONOS is a puzzle matching game for iOS. The mechanics are simple, but by using some challenging tactics, you can get even more points.
There are three modes: single player, puzzle, and multiplayer.
The goal is to draw a line, connecting like colors to one another, starting with just four eggs at a time. This only works if the same color is on each end. Easy enough, right? Well, to play this game to its full potential, you will really have to know what you're doing and get the hang of getting extra points for using more abilities.
For example, you can add two more eggs to the chain to make it longer and get more points. Essentially, this means always having two of any color between two of the same color. However, you can't cross the line over itself -- it doesn't work that way.
Another way to get a higher score is to surround the eggs by a chain or line. This is called a "stake out," and you get even more points for stake outs. Or you can get more points for making another chain while the previous chain is still happening. So be quick!
Watch your level meter because as you level up and upgrade, opportunities to get a higher score become available.
In single player mode, the time limit is shown on the upper right corner of screen. Each time you upgrade, your time goes back up to 60 seconds.
Puzzle mode uses the same mechanics, but you only have a few eggs to work with and get rid of, unlike the full screen that gets replenished in single player mode.
Unfortunately, multiplayer mode isn't that great. I became impatient while waiting five minutes for the game to find me an opponent via Game Center. You can choose to do pass-and-play if you're with a friend, but it's not that fun. This is a nice solo puzzle game to pass the time, however.
The more you play, the more modes you can unlock by getting certain achievements. The sounds and music are cute, but the female voice that tells you to begin once you start a game can get a bit annoying.
If you would like a challenging puzzler, this game is a great choice. It can be played simply, or in a more challenging way — you choose.
