Word Wizard is an educational app designed to teach kids all about the alphabet through sight and sound.
Word Wizard‘s powerful text-to-speech engine allows your child to freely place letters into a grid in its Movable Alphabet mode and have one of three natural sounding voices speak them out loud. The voices not only speak each letter separately, they will also begin to sound out words once additional letters are added. The built-in spellchecker will highlight unrecognized words as well.
In addition to the relaxing Movable Alphabet mode, Word Wizard includes a Spelling Quizzes mode, which includes 189 spelling tests totaling over 1,400 words. Quizzes range from testing your child on the 1,000 most frequently used words in the English language to food and animal related words. During each quiz your child will be asked to spell a word using the same drag and drop method. Hints are available in case your child gets stumped. At the end of each quiz a report will be displayed along with some funky animations.
Word Wizard includes a variety of customization options as well including a secondary QWERTY keyboard, uppercase and lowercase letters, keyboard emulation, voice transformer, four letter sizes, and two backgrounds to choose from.
